From Times wire services

The Peace Corps announced today that it is recruiting 60 teachers of English to train other teachers in Poland beginning in June and that 90 more instructors will be needed next year.

“We need very quickly to train 10,000 English teachers,” said Paul Coverdell, director of the Peace Corps. He said that the request for trained teachers of English as a foreign language originated with Poland’s new regime and that a formal agreement is expected to be signed in February.

The Peace Corps recently began recruiting English teachers to serve in Hungary, training other teachers. The job requirements are a degree in teaching English as a foreign language, a year’s experience, U.S. citizenship and a willingness to serve abroad for two years.
