Ron Kovic, anti-war activist and subject of the current film “Born on the Fourth of July,” and the film’s Academy Award-winning director, Oliver Stone, will speak at UC Irvine Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. Each will speak for about 30 minutes about their own experiences in Vietnam, the making of the film, and the film industry’s representation of the Cold War. A panel discussion will include Times reporter and author Robert Scheer. The seminar, titled “Vietnam: The Making of ‘Born on the Fourth of July,’ ” is being sponsored by UCI’s Global Peace and Conflict Studies program and will be held in the Science Lecture Hall.
