French police Friday peacefully evacuated 28 supporters of Lebanon’s Christian army commander, Maj. Gen. Michel Aoun, who had staged an eight-day sit-in at Lebanon’s Paris embassy, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said.

The protesters objected to the appointment of a new ambassador and attempts by Lebanon’s Muslim-led government, which is backed by Syria, to take control of the Paris mission.
