P.M. BRIEFING : Cuba Feels Economic Squeeze

Citing delays in shipments of cereals and flour from the Soviet Union, Cuba tightened bread-rationing and raised egg prices today, reflecting a growing economic squeeze apparently caused by the political turmoil in Eastern Europe.

Disruption in the arrivals of Soviet and other East Bloc ships to Cuba also sharply cut the Caribbean island’s citrus fruit exports in December and January.
