Reagan and Taxes

Share

As history has a way of weeding out the ornamental accomplishments of past presidents, I feel that Ronald Reagan’s years will exist in future history books as the “years of the great sting.” I voted for him, I cheered for him and I thanked him when he left. Then I began to live with his one huge scam, tax reform--the bonanza for the extremes of our society, the very poor and the very rich. Ronald Reagan conned us with a shy smile, sincere eyes and his wavy black hair.

And the real pity is that I don’t think he ever knew the extent of the damage. It’s not your enemies who are your undoing, it’s your well-meaning but misguided friends. You don’t prepare for them.

One of the silent majority.
