Lawyers

This letter is regarding an item on the lack of “Great Deeds by the Attorneys” that appeared in Only in L.A. (Part B, Jan. 9).

I’m writing to inform you that lawyers do, do good things. There are many falsehoods about the way lawyers act.

My father is a lawyer and he is one of the most generous men in the whole world.

He always has time for my brother and me. He isn’t always “bringing his work home with him.” If we need help with our homework he’s the first one to lend a hand, even if it takes three hours!

He has coached T-ball, softball, baseball and basketball teams since 1979, for the Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department. He takes time out to have practice at least once a week (besides the one or two games a week), and everybody always plays the same amount of time.

As you can see, not all lawyers are the hard-nosed, money-hungry, conniving maniacs that society makes them out to be. You just have to get a chance to know them.
