LOCAL : Fast-Food Chain to Pay Reagan $1,000 a Minute for Thoughts
Former President Ronald Reagan will receive $1,000 a minute for a one-hour talk to about 1,400 owners of Hardee’s franchises meeting in Orlando Feb. 5.
“We had our sights on him before he was even out of office,” said spokesman Ted Schlutow of the fast-food restaurant chain. “Our biggest growth pattern was during the Reagan years.”
Schlutow said the topic of Reagan’s convention remarks is unknown. Lou Holtz, Notre Dame University’s football coach, will address the convention Feb. 6, but his speaking fee was not disclosed.
Reagan has been commanding hefty appearance fees since leaving office. His take-home pay here will pale in comparison to the $2 million a Japanese media conglomerate paid for a Reagan visit last October.
