Gradco Stock: A New York company that has said it might launch a takeover bid for Gradco Systems Inc. has raised its stake in the Irvine-based manufacturer of paper-handling equipment from 6.3% to 8%. Plenum Publishing Co., a small firm that specializes in translating technical documents, said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it purchased 166,000 Gradco shares between Dec. 28 and Jan. 22 for $9.75 to $10.67 each, or $1.7 million.
