2 Athletes Fail Dope Tests, Lose Medals

Weightlifters Subrata Kumar Paul of India and Ricky Chaplin of Wales failed dope tests at the Commonwealth Games and were stripped of their medals, officials said today.

David Dixon, secretary of the Commonwealth Games Federation, said Chaplin, who won a gold medal in the 75-kilogram class, and Paul, who won two silvers and a bronze in the 67.5 category, both tested positive and have been thrown out of the games.
