Sending Women to Front Lines
Concerning women in combat, a letter (Jan. 20) stated that “sending women, the future mothers of our country to war is criminal. Sending women into combat is uncivilized and insane.” All women are not future mothers. Women are potential mothers; they are also potential senators, doctors, community workers, presidents--whatever they choose to be.
Sending men, potential fathers, to war is criminal. Sending men into combat is uncivilized and insane. War is uncivilized and insane.
In our culture war is acceptable and killing is prime-time entertainment. What a great day it will be when we realize that killing for political gain is still murder, and that all members of society, regardless of anatomy, have the right to make their own decisions about who they want to be.
