Jetliner Blows Tire, Flights Are Delayed
United Press International
A tire on a United Airlines passenger jet blew out on takeoff and left debris on the runway that held up flights at Lindbergh Field for 40 minutes Thursday night, officials said.
The plane was on its final takeoff approach on the main runway when the tire blew out at about 7 p.m., an airport supervisor said.
No one was injured, and the pilot was able to guide the plane off the runway without assistance, the supervisor said.
