Ordaining of Homosexuals

Share

Luedtke discusses the merits of the ordination of homosexuals into the clergy in the Lutheran Church. She argues homosexual ordination from a populist prospective to help the church “. . . Flourish and survive in a modern world. . . .” It was the popular viewpoint which led Jesus to the place where he declared that his kingdom was not of the world.

Luedtke advocates that Christians should practice an inclusive, unrestricted, tolerant and generous love. I could not agree more as long as that love is directed at people and not sin. The love of God for people is perfect, just as is his hate of sin. We must not confuse worldly wisdom and human opinion with biblical Christianity. In the church of Jesus, as set forth in the Bible, Christians are part of the body of Christ in which things such as adultery, homosexuality, etc. are still sins and individuals who choose to follow the way of those sins forfeit the right to lead in that spiritual body. As a former Episcopalian it hurts me to see another Protestant denomination take the road to apostasy. But then that is set forth in the Bible too!
