Israeli Science Office Will Open in Beijing
An israeli scientific academy will open an office in Beijing next month, establishing the Jewish state’s first presence in the Chinese capital, an Israeli diplomatic source said Friday.
The liaison office of the Israeli Academy of Science and Humanities will be unofficial and will concentrate on agricultural research, the source said.
“We think. . . academic cooperation is a good start, “ the diplomat said. “It is a nice way for two ancient civilizations to meet after 4,000 years.”
China and Israel do not have formal relations.
