Bonnie Blair, a 1988 Olympic gold medalist in the 500 meters, won her third consecutive 500-meter World Cup race and also captured the 1,500-meter sprint at the World Cup Speed Skating Championships in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Blair, 25, of Champaign, Ill., won the 500-meter event at the Olympic Oval in 41.64 seconds, defeating Christine Aaftink of the Netherlands by 0.15 seconds. Blair came back to win the 1,500 meters in 2:12.64.
