Soviet Attitude

Share

In the article “Soviet Public Intrigued--but Cynical” (Section A, Feb. 9), I found it very disturbing to discover how pessimistic the people of the Soviet Union really are during this revolutionary time of reform.

It would seem to me that the people should be overjoyed at the rapid progress their country is achieving and the radical changes Gorbachev is making in the country’s government.

These reforms being made are for the benefit of the people, and it is quite disappointing to see that the reaction of the people is so unappreciative. With such a losing attitude, I doubt the country will get very far, no matter how optimistic the leaders are.
