SHORT TAKES : Pauley, Gumbel Expected to Win

The Washington Journalism Review’s sixth annual “Best in the Business” award will be presented tonight at the National Press Club, and odds are that NBC’s Jane Pauley and Bryant Gumbel will be been named as “Best Morning News Team,” one of the five major TV awards.

The October readers’ survey in WJR put Pauley and Gumbel ahead of Kathleen Sullivan and Harry Smith of “CBS This Morning” by 25 percentage points. Pauley has since been replaced by Deborah Norville and Sullivan by Paula Zahn.
