From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The launch of Atlantis was delayed for a second day to let the shuttle’s commander recover from a sore throat and to await better weather. The secret military mission to put a spy satellite in orbit is not expected to take off from Cape Canaveral, Fla., until Saturday morning at the earliest, National Aeronautics and Space Administration officials said. The shuttle originally was scheduled for a pre-dawn liftoff Thursday but was postponed when Navy Capt. John O. Creighton became ill.
