In an effort to solidify the San Diego Padres’ front office while looking for a community-minded buyer, owner Joan Kroc announced that her son-in-law, Jerry Kapstein, will oversee all club operations.

Kapstein, a player-agent who won the first three arbitration cases in major league baseball history, will work with Jack McKeon, the Padres’ manager and vice president of baseball operations, Kroc said.

“Basically, he will be my personal representative, standing in my shoes,” she said of Kapstein, who will continue handling Kroc’s efforts to sell the club.
