Toyota to Replace Cruise Control in Many 1982-84 Cars

Toyota Motor Corp. announced Wednesday that it is recalling 138,575 cars sold in Japan, the United States and Canada to replace defective cruise control systems.

Engine revolutions may rise steeply with prolonged use of the faulty cruise control during intensely cold weather, officials said.

The models being recalled are Camrys with SV11 gasoline engines made from Sept. 16, 1982, through Aug. 11, 1984; Camrys with CV10 diesel engines made from Aug. 5, 1983, through Aug. 9, 1984, Corollas with AE82 gasoline engines made from April 15, 1983, through Aug. 2, 1984, and Corollas with AE86 gasoline engines, made from March 30, 1983, through Aug. 9, 1984.
