NATION IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : 6 Arrested With Ton of Cocaine, $500,000
A ton of cocaine hidden in a fruit shipment and more than $500,000 were seized from a Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., residence, and six Colombians were arrested on drug charges, federal agents said. The cocaine was seized as it was delivered by rental truck to the home in the affluent Weston subdivision, said John Fernandez, Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman in Miami. Agents also seized six vehicles, and the home, which is worth an estimated $1 million, is subject to confiscation by the federal government, Fernandez said.
