Re “Actress Brings Dickens’ Women to Life” by Janice Arkatov, Feb. 21:

British actress Miriam Margolyes feels the “American attention span is basically 20 minutes” and has adapted her show accordingly, and she adds: “I don’t want to patronize the audience” or “talk down to them,” but “I just hope there are people in this country who know who Charles Dickens is.” I’m surprised she was brave enough to bring her production to this country in the first place.

I’m sure Ms. Margolyes is vastly entertaining in “Wooman, Lovely Wooman, What a Sex You Are!,” but I’ll never know. After such blatant condescension on her part, I wouldn’t pay two cents to see her in anything.
