A Device to Track Down Bank Robbers

Share

In reading the article “Police Swear by Tracking Bug” (Feb. 27), I had two immediate thoughts. The first was regarding the continued protection of criminal elements by the ultra-liberal legal establishment and, second, the irresponsibility of the press reporting this type of story.

The retail community is under a major assault from criminals who are constantly trying to relieve them of their assets and endangering their employees and customers. It is especially discouraging when, after repeated attacks, a system such as the “tiny gizmo” is available to assist and is attacked as an invasion of privacy.

While open, free reporting in the press is desirable, the conscientious reporting of a story such as this gives the criminal a warning to be aware. If the newspaper’s assets were attacked and police used this device, I doubt that you would have been as eager to report this story and warn those thieves who were in your pockets that you were taking steps to protect yourself.

You failed to consider the retailers, banks, service stations and others who use this system to protect their hard-earned profits.
