WORLD IN BRIEF : AFRICA : Shevardnadze Plans to Visit 5 Nations

Eduard A. Shevardnadze will visit Africa this month in the first trip by a Soviet foreign minister to the continent, the government announced in Moscow. Shevardnadze will visit Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola and Namibia, the Foreign Ministry said. He may meet Secretary of State James A. Baker III during the March 21 visit to Namibia, formerly South-West Africa, a former German colony ruled by South Africa since World War I, the announcement said.
