Polygram NV: The Dutch recording company said its earnings rose 27% in 1989 to a record $173.5 million (333 million Dutch guilders) as its sales increased 20% from the previous year. The company credited strong sales from a wide range of artists. The firm, which owns Deutsche Grammophon, Philips Classics and Decca-London classical recordings, acquired A&M; Records and Island Records during 1989.
