Nation IN BRIEF : TEXAS : Super Collider’s Design Approved

The Department of Energy formally accepted the design of the superconducting super collider, clearing the way for Texas to buy 1,700 acres of land outside Dallas as the site of the atom smasher. Deputy Energy Secretary W. Henson Moore presented the letter of approval at the 1990 International Symposium on the Superconducting Super Collider in Miami Beach, a gathering of more than 600 representatives from government, industry and science who will build the $8-billion superconducting super collider.
