Nixon’s Visit to Capitol Hill

Share

Hoisted by his own petard, Conrad in desperate frustration (“The Second Coming,” March 13) finds the years of vilification of President Nixon have come to naught.

To have a group of senators request a meeting with Richard Nixon to discuss and be enlightened to the changing world scene and America’s role to meet new challenges must have galled this merciless critic who has made a career of vicious, villainous attacks--almost beyond toleration.

To observe the scene of bedazzled reporters and dazzled students, members of congressional staffs and American citizens surrounding the former President in obvious admiration, surely must have caused Conrad a severe heartburn.

This event was no surprise to the millions of long-time supporters of this man with remarkable character and intellect.

Only to Conrad and those of his ilk would there seem to be a “Second Coming.” To a majority of knowledgeable Americans, President Nixon never left!
