From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Colombia complained that U.S. Coast Guard cutters stopped and searched two Colombian ships suspected of transporting cocaine in the Caribbean. It said it lodged a protest at the U.S. Embassy. No drugs were found, it added. The two freighters were stopped separately March 9 about 125 miles north of Colombia. Colombia warned Washington last month that it would not let its ships be stopped and searched without prior Colombian approval.
