Panel to Review San Pedro Business District

Los Angeles City Councilwoman Joan Milke Flores has appointed a committee to review density, parking and planning design in the downtown San Pedro business district. The 23-member panel was appointed as part of an ongoing review of the San Pedro Community Plan.

Insurance broker Curt Higgins will chair the new committee and attorney Bob Nizich was appointed vice chairman. The other members are Bess Akerson, community activist; Van Barbieri, real estate agent; Giuseppe Catalano, business owner; Ken Darling, architect; Dr. Robert Davies, physician; Fred DiBernardo, attorney; Al Galletti, hotel and business owner; Rick Gaydos, accountant; Janet Gunter, business owner; Ann Gushe, business owner; Ben Hudson, president of San Pedro Peninsula Chamber of Commerce; Gary Larson, developer; Roger Murry, businessman; Julie Nicosia, real estate agent; Nick Papadakis, business owner; Bill Pike, Realtor; Queenie Scheurwater, bank manager; Jim Trani, Sr., restaurateur; John Trutanich, developer and real estate agent; Mary Ann Walker, paralegal, and Thelma Zuanich, business owner.

Tom Eidem, executive director of the San Pedro Revitalization Corp., and Len Betz, project manager for the local Community Redevelopment Agency, were named ex-officio members.

The panel’s first meeting, which will be open to the public, will be held at 8:30 a.m. March 28 at Flores’ San Pedro office, Room 200, 638 Beacon St.
