PURE GORE

“Pure Gore” should have been entitled “Poor Gore.” How often do we have to be subjected to yet another version of Vidal’s trials and tribulations? Surely an article regarding his latest issue, “Hollywood,” would have been enough. Instead we get to pore over his past wounds with him in tow and are told that he cannot shed a tear due to his current medication. Are we to weep for him?

Please spare us. We see these tired articles with Vidal proclaiming his sad case at least twice a year. Let’s leave him alone to write in his adequate but always truthful style about our forefathers. I can do without knowing whether Charlie Chaplin was circumcised or not.
