Pro-Kadafi Party in Algeria Seeks Status

ALGIERS —
An Algerian political party inspired by the theories of Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi has applied for recognition from Algerian authorities, the daily newspaper El Moudjahid said Monday.
It said the application for legal status by the Algerian Revolutionary Committees Movement is the latest from more than 20 parties since Algeria embraced multi-party democracy last year.
The group seeks to apply Kadafi’s philosophy and also calls for complete application of Islamic law.
