North Carolina State’s trustees met in private at Raleigh, N.C., for more than two hours to discuss the men’s basketball program, then emerged with no comment on the fate of Coach Jim Valvano.

“Due to the sensitive nature, we have agreed not to discuss this matter at this time,” said John Gregg, chairman of the board of trustees.
