Dear Vladimir: A letter written to V. I. Lenin by his co-revolutionary, Leon Trotsky, will be auctioned in New York today. The letter, estimated to be worth $20,000-$30,000, was written in January, 1918, in the Soviet Union: “My plan is this. We announce the termination of the war and demobilization, without signing any kind of peace. We declare that we cannot participate in the plundering war of the Allies, nor can we sign a plundering peace,” Trotsky wrote. A treaty was signed March 3.

Barbs By Wire: Gossip columnist Liz Smith wrote in Wednesday’s Daily News that Donald Trump faxed her this message: “Dear Liz: Why don’t you stop saying that (Ivana Trump) is fighting to protect . . . ‘her’ children. (1) The children are ‘our’ children . . . . (2) The children are totally protected by me . . . . “ Smith said his message also was faxed to Ivana Trump’s attorneys, who faxed Smith, saying the Trump marriage agreement would “make his children live on 10% of what they are presently living on . . . . “

Reagan Redux: Tom Clancy, author of “The Hunt for Red October,” recently told a Doyleston, Pa., audience that former President Ronald Reagan “faced the Soviet Union . . . and they’re the ones who blinked. They’re the ones who changed,” he said. “Ronald Reagan took the mess that (former President) Jimmy Carter left and made it back into America.”
