Former Fugitive Sentenced: Gerald L. Rogers, a former Malibu resident who bilked Los Angeles investors out of at least $1.3 million, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Rogers was convicted of 29 tax and mail fraud counts but fled the country before he could be sentenced in 1987. He also faces trial in Denver relating to a second scam that allegedly cost investors $90 million.
