4-Year Note Yields Rise: Yields on four-year Treasury notes rose at auction to the highest level in a year. The average yield was 8.58%, compared to 7.65% at the last auction Dec. 20. It was the highest rate since four-year notes averaged 9.70% on March 29, 1989. The notes will carry a coupon interest rate of 8.5%, with each $10,000 in face value selling for $9,973.40. A total of $8.03 billion in notes was sold out of bids totaling $39.68 billion.
