UCI Extends Mulligan’s Contract

Bill Mulligan, UC Irvine basketball coach, has been given a one-year contract extension through the 1991-92 season, the school announced.

Mulligan, 60, had one year remaining on a five-year contract after this year’s 5-23 season.

“We have tremendous confidence in Bill and respect the job he has done for UCI athletics,” Horace Mitchell, vice chancellor for student affairs and acting athletic director, said in a news release. “Despite a losing season this past year, Bill has done an excellent job with the UCI basketball program over the last 10 years and the university administration wishes to emphasize its approval with his efforts by extending his contract.”

Mulligan’s teams are 152-137 in 10 seasons at Irvine.
