Countywide : Ventura Teacher Named to State Post
Dorothy J. Lee, a fifth-grade teacher at the Will Rogers Elementary School in Ventura, was appointed Tuesday to the State Board of Education by Gov. George Deukmejian.
Lee, 55, has taught in the Ventura Unified School District for more than 30 years. She will replace the late Elias S. Manolakas, a school board member who died last December.
Pending confirmation of her appointment to the 11-member board by the state Senate, Lee will serve the remainder of Manolakas’ four-year term, which expires in January, 1992.
Lee, a resident of Ventura, received an undergraduate degree in industrial relations from UC Berkeley and a master’s degree in educational administration from USC.
She is married to Harry Lee and they have a son, Roderick.
