SIMI VALLEY : School Board Hears Technology Report
Educators heard a preliminary report Tuesday on a study of technology in the classroom, including electronic chalkboards, interactive videos and computer-assisted instruction.
Simi Valley Unified School District Supt. John W. Duncan told board members that the committee which is undertaking the study was created to assess the district’s need for improved information and technology systems.
A 27-member task force is interviewing 133 teachers, administrators, district employees, students and community members. Each of the people interviewed is asked to complete a survey on information technology and its usefulness to the district.
The group will develop a long-range technology plan for the district, Duncan said. Assisting are a number of IBM consultants whose services have been donated to the district.
The final report is due Aug. 7.
