After frying chicken at a fast-food restaurant for several months, Soviet ballet dancer Mikhail Gaidamakin debuts tonight with the Ft. Worth Ballet.

Gaidamakin, 34, defected from the Kirov Ballet during a New York visit in July and moved to Dallas, where he lived with his friend Andrei Ustinov, a defector from the Moscow Ballet in 1987.

Gaidamakin worked at Grandy’s, a chicken joint, before signing with the Ft. Worth Ballet in March. He debuts in Glazunov’s “The Seasons.”
