U.S. Picks Up Two Bronzes In World Cup Shooting

Wang Yifu of China won his second gold medal in pistol shooting, and William Meek of Riverside and Bret Erickson of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning, Ga., won bronze medals for the United States Thursday at the National Rifle Assn.’s World Cup USA near Chino.

Wang outshot Sorin Babii of Romania to win the air pistol.

Meek took the bronze medal in the free-rifle prone match, fired from 50 meters.

Erickson placed third in the Olympic trap event, fired with 12-gauge shotguns.

Shooting will continue through Saturday at the Peterson Prado Tiro Ranges. Today’s competition will be mounted in skeet, women’s air rifle and air pistol and men’s rapid-fire pistol, free rifle three-position and running target.
