School Play Canceled After Drinking Incident

The final two performances of a spring play at Wilson Junior High School in Glendale were canceled and 12 cast members were suspended for five days because they drank alcohol before going on stage, school authorities said Friday.
Glendale schools spokesman Vic Pallos said the students admitted they drank in the school auditorium Wednesday evening before appearing in Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.”
The students apparently showed no signs of intoxication, but a parent whose child witnessed the drinking reported the incident. Approximately $3,500 in advance ticket sales will be refunded.
