Offer on Liz Taylor Homes Rejected

Share

I read in “Hot Property” (Feb. 11) that Elizabeth Taylor was offering (a two-house compound known as Casa Kimberly) in Puerto Vallarta for $350,000.

I sent her an offer, not only offering the full price, but also stating that all the profit from the planned conversion of the property to a bed and breakfast inn would go to an AIDS project until a vaccine or cure has been found for AIDS.

I was informed by the real estate agent that my offer was “most generous,” but Ms. Taylor had a much better offer.

If Ms. Taylor wanted a better offer, the asking price should have been $350,000, or the best offer. Her intention, it seems, was not to sell the property for $350,000, but this was her trick to create lots of publicity to get lots of money and preserve her “generous” image.

Of course, she may never have personally had a chance to know about my offer. This is why writing this letter may be the only way we may know what really happened.

Also, considering the importance of the AIDS issue, if Ms. Taylor had chosen my offer, it would have been a great example how all of us can help to put much needed energy and effort to find a cure for AIDS.

A spokesman for Fred Sands Realtors, which is representing Elizabeth Taylor in the sale of her Puerto Vallarta hacienda said:

“The agents had multiple offers, and all were submitted to Elizabeth Taylor’s business manager, who is a treasurer for the AIDS Foundation for Research. Mr. Navai’s offer wasn’t accepted, and our agents felt pretty sure that she knew about it because of its unusual nature.”

The property is in escrow at more than the asking price, the spokesman acknowledged.
