A man infatuated with another man’s bride-to-be was jailed after he interrupted a marriage ceremony armed with a cap gun and wearing a cowboy hat, white poncho and black mask, police said Monday.

James M. Jernigan showed up outside the church just before the wedding Saturday and threatened the bride and bridegroom as panicked guests fled, officers said. Jernigan, 30, of Isle of Palms, was charged with resisting arrest with deadly force, presenting and pointing a firearm, disturbance of religious worship and assaulting police officers while resisting arrest.
