World IN BRIEF : SOUTH AFRICA : Mandela Threatens to Delay Talks Again

African National Congress leader Nelson R. Mandela warned that the ANC may again suspend the start of talks with the South African government because of more incidents of police shooting of anti-apartheid protesters in the past few days. Mandela said the ANC was disturbed to hear that the police again had used “force and violence” to break up peaceful demonstrations. The ANC had earlier postponed the opening of formal talks with the government from April 11 to May 2 because of another shooting incident.
