A 17-year-old Poway woman died Friday night after being hit by a car when she tried to cross the street, said officials with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Lilia Reyes was crossing Espola Road just east of Orchard Bend Road with her boyfriend when she stepped into the path of a car traveling west at 8:13 p.m. Reyes was transported with a broken neck to Palomar Medical Center, where she died at 8:56 p.m., according to the San Diego County Coroner’s office.
The car’s driver, Kevin McCormack of Poway, was not cited, said Sgt. Jim Keenan.
