World IN BRIEF : INDIA : New Clashes Erupt in Kashmir Capital

Indian security forces clashed repeatedly with Muslim militants in Srinagar, the capital of its northern Kashmir state, and made dozens of arrests. The clashes came at a time of escalating tension over the Kashmir region between predominantly Hindu India and Muslim Pakistan. Seven rebel commanders reportedly were arrested.
