H.G. Wells did more with his time than just ponder ideas on how to travel through it. He also wrote comedy, and in 1937 a movie starring Roland Young, better known from the film “Topper,” was released.

The Ojai Film Society will present “The Man Who Could Work Miracles” at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Ojai Playhouse, 145 E. Ojai Ave.

This fantasy-comedy follows the trials and tribulations of a timid department store clerk, who is given the power to work miracles from a bored group of celestial beings. Hilarity follows when everyone around him begins to think of ways to use his gift to his own advantage. The newly made miracle man has more trouble than he knew existed.
