Share

One of Magic Johnson’s shoes and a daylong term as Culver City police chief will be on the auction block Saturday at the Culver City Education Foundation’s annual fund-raiser for the city’s schools.

Other items at the Nibbles & Bids auction include Beverly Hills Country Club memberships, a hockey stick autographed by members of the Los Angeles Kings, the chance to serve as a school principal or Culver City’s chief administrative officer for a day and a ride on a float in the city’s winter parade.

Ted Hatfield, a vice president at MGM/UA Distribution Co. and a member of many Culver City community and civic groups, will be honored at the auction and dinner event.

The nonprofit foundation raised about $50,000 for the Culver City Unified School District last year, said Nibbles & Bids co-chairwoman Roberta Leavitt. The funds are used for teacher grants, operation of the libraries, and art, music and other programs.

The Saturday night event will be held at the Filmland Corporate Center, 10000 Washington Blvd. Tickets, at $60 each, can be purchased by calling the foundation office at (213) 839-2574.
