A state parolee accused of a two-day crime rampage that terrorized Oak Park residents last summer was ordered to stand trial Thursday on a charge of raping an elderly woman and on 11 other charges.

Trial was ordered for Emmanuel Lucious, 30, by Municipal Judge Charles Rogers after a seven-day preliminary hearing.

Lucious, who is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail, is named in a series of rape, assault, robbery and burglary charges, in which all of the victims were older than 60.

Lucious is also being prosecuted under the habitual-offender statute, which means that, if convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison, according to Assistant Dist. Atty. Josephine Kiernan.

Lucious is scheduled to be arraigned in Superior Court on May 7.

The crimes occurred six weeks after Lucious was released from prison after serving eight years for sexually assaulting two schoolteachers.
