Orange County’s tollway agencies Thursday hired an engineer away from Denver’s toll road project to supervise planning and construction of three similar facilities here.
Gregory C. Henk, a career civil engineer, was named deputy director of design and engineering during the tollway agencies’ board meeting in Santa Ana.
“I am very pleased that Mr. Henk will join our team to build these vital new corridors in Orange County,” said William Woollett Jr., the board’s executive director. “He has just spent four years doing what we were formed to do.”
Henk, a veteran of the Colorado Highway Department, is chief engineer for the E-470 tollway, an extension of Highway 470 near Denver. The first five miles of the project are expected to open next year.
Henk’s salary will be in the $90,000-to-$96,000 range, said agency spokeswoman Donna Stubbs.
