WORLD IN BRIEF : PERU : Attackers Slay 50 Peasants in Jungle

Three hundred masked men, possibly members of the Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) guerrilla group, rounded up residents of a remote Peruvian jungle village and shot to death about 50 elderly people and children, officials said. The massacre occurred last week in Sonomoro, according to officials 12 miles north in Concepcion.
